Château Beauséjour, depuis fort longtemps
réputé pour ses vins, demeure propriété
de la même famille depuis huit générations.
Ce domaine, légué en 1867 par Pierre-Paulin
Ducarpe à sa fille mariée au docteur Duffau-Lagarrosse-,
comprend la maison paternelle qui jouxte l'antique église
Saint-Martin (XIè siècle) dominant le
vignoble.
Ce vignoble, d'environ 7 hectares d'un seul tenant,
s'étend à une encablure à l'ouest
de Saint-Emilion, sur un terrain argilo-calcaire et
calcaire à astéries, au centre des grands
crus.
Ce bien, constitué en société civile
depuis 1963 s'est transmis jusqu'à nos jours
aux descendants en ligne directe des époux Duffau-Lagarrosse.
Guidés par une longue expérience et soucieux
de la qualité, les propriétaires actuels
ont su conserver à leur vignoble et à
ses vins leur très ancienne renommée.

Beauséjour, which has been renowned for a long
time for its wines- has been in the property of the same
family for eight generations.
This estate -bequeathed in 1867 by Pierre-Paulin Ducarpe
to his daughter, then married to Doctor Duffau-Lagarrosse-
is composed of the family house close to the ancient Saint-Martin
church (11th century) that overlooks the vineyard.
The vineyard -seven unbroken hectares (about 14 acres)-
lies a few yards west of Saint-Emilion on mixed soil of
clay and limestone with asterias right in the very heart
of the great vineyards. This estate, which was set up
as a non-trading company (société civile)
in 1963, has been handed down to this day to the descendants
in direct line of the Duffau-Lagarrosse.
Guided by long experience and concerned about the highest
quality of their production, the present owners have managed
to retain for their vineyard and its wines their ancient
reputation. |
