Growing season data : - Bud-break on the 23rd March 2002 - Mid-point in flowering on the 6th June 2002 - Mid-point in colour-change in grapes on the 15th August 2002 - The flowering was uneven because of the adverse weather conditions, which brought about millerandage and coulure.
The summer was cool and damp which somewhat slowed down the colour-change in the grapes. This unevenness was fortunately made up for by exceptional sunshine from the middle of September until October, which enabled the grapes to finish their ripening process very well and to be harvested in excellent conditions.
Harvest : The picking began on the 24th September 2002. After several trials, we decided to sort the grapes at the time of harvesting. This enabled us to obtain outstanding grapes.
Vinification : The vinification was carried out in small sized vats, allowing us to vinify plot by plot. The vatting period lasted two weeks, so as to avoid any over-extraction and thereby keep the harmony, balance and charm of the future wine. The malo-lactic fermentation finished at the end of January, beginning of February 2003.
Ageing : The ageing process began at the beginning of February 2003, in barrels, in separate batches.
Blending : This will take place in May.
