2002 Vintage

Situation :
Directly south-facing slope

Surface area :
37 hectares (91.39 acres) in one block

Density of plantation :
5,500 plants per hectare

Grape varieties :
- 70 % Merlot
- 20 % Cabernet Franc
- 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon

Average age of the vines :
44 years

Average yield :
28-30 hectolitres per hectare

Vineyard management :
- Crop thinning
- 1st de-leafing end of June, 2nd mid August

Growing season data :
- Flowering from the 5th to the 12th June
- Colour change of grapes from the 8th to the 16th August

Harvesting :
By hand with sorting from the 4th to the 11th October.

Vinification :
The alcoholic fermentation started naturally, without yeasting, in temperature-controlled oak vats. Long macerations. Malo-lactic fermentation in oak barrels.

Ageing :
100 % new oak. For the first six months the wine is aged in oak barrels on its fine lees, followed by around 24 months of traditional ageing. The final blending is done when the wine is bottled. No fining or filtering.

Blending :
- 70 % Merlot
- 20 % Cabernet Franc
- 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon

Production :
About 90,000 bottles
