Geographical situation :
Plateau and south-west-facing slopes of Saint Emilion

Surface area:
7 hectares (17.29 acres) in one single block

Density of plantation :
6,500 to 7,500 plants per hectare

Grape varieties :
- 70% Merlot
- 20% Cabernet Franc
- 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Average age of the vines :
35 years

Average yield :
40 hectolitres per hectare

Vineyard management techniques :
Traditional and adapted
Part of the vineyard is seeded with grass.
De-budding, de-leafing and crop thinning are practised on a plot by plot basis, taking into account the growing season of each grape variety, the age of the plant and its vigour. There is a general respect for the overall balance in grape quality.

2004 harvest:
The Merlot was picked on the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th October. The Cabernets, one week later.
The harvest is received, after de-stemming, on a six metre long vibrating sorting table.
Strict plot by plot fermentation.
Vatting period lasting 4 to 5 weeks, in temperature-controlled small-sized concrete vats (50 hl to 80 hl)
Malo-lactic fermentation in vat.
Traditional vinification carried out in accordance with the year’s crop.
Regular tastings during the vinification with the consultant œnologist (Laboratoire Rolland).

Ageing :
50% in new barrels, 50% in second-fill barrels, for a period of 12 to 16 months. Oak barrels from four different coopers are used.
