TROTTEVIEILLE
1st Great Classified Growth
2006 vintage

Geographical situation:
- On the top of the Saint Emilion plateau
- South west facing vines
- Vineyard in one single block, enclosed by stone walls

Soils and grape varieties:
Pure limestone covered with a fine 30cm layer of clay.
- 50% Merlot,
- 45% Cabernet Franc,
- 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Average age of the vines: 50 years.

Vineyard management:
Double or Single Guyot pruning according to the plots.
Environmentally-friendly viticulture: de-leafing, crop thinning, control of yields.

Weather conditions:
A cold winter with sporadic rain and some light snowfall.
The growing season began a short time before the seasonal average time.
End of May to beginning of June, a short, even flowering.
Generally hot during July, mixed in August.
September, very hot at the beginning then showery periods.
Harvest: The Merlot was picked as from September 23, the Cabernets from September 28.
Picking with small plastic crates, double sorting (bunches and berries).

Vinification - Ageing:
In small 60hl concrete vats.
Vatting periods of 4 weeks on average.
Ageing in 100% new oak barrels.

Yield - Blending:
- Yields: 33 hl/ha. – Top wine: 29 hl/ha
- Blending: 47% Merlot, 49% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Very old Trottevieille vines picked and vinified separately.
